Two victories | Reichel celebrates in Frankfurt, Bock in Münsterland

Horst Reichel displayed an impressive performance to claim his second victory at Frankfurt City Triathlon, beating his rivals by nothing less than six minutes. For him it turned out to be a successful rehearsal for Ironman Sweden in two weeks time. His team colleague Niclas Bock also secured his second win of the Münsterland Grand Prix in Sassenberg in North Rhine-Westphalia.

"I think I've never been that strong"

Already during the 1.5 kilometre swim, Horst Reichel asserted his place in the leading group, before he really went for it on the bike. "After some five kilometres I took the lead and then I just continued in my rhythm", explained Reichel. "Never before I have cycled with such a wattage. I think I've never been that strong." The athlete from Darmstadt was more than satisfied with his performance on the 43 kilometre bike course, but still didn't content himself with a four minute lead. Up to the finish line he extended his lead to some six minutes. "After a long training phase you really don't know what your exact form is. But today's race has shown me that I have done everything right and that I'm prepared for Ironman Sweden." In two weeks, Reichel will do everything to show a similar display of form.

A victory as an act of defiance

Just one day before the race, Niclas Bock made up his mind to compete once again at Münsterland Grand Prix over the distances of 1.7 kilometres swim, 70 kilometres bike and 15 kilometres run. Bock who had won the race already in 2011, gave vent to his frustration after Challenge Roth two weeks ago and decided the race already on the bike: "During the swim I felt well and when I sat on my bike I just went for it. I wanted to prove to myself that my form is good and in the end with a good performance on the bike and a solid run I took victory." The next race the 24 year old athlete of the POWER HORSE Triathlon Team is planning is Allgäu Triathlon in Immenstadt.
