Ironman 70.3 Champs | “It’s going to be tough”

Next week things get serious for Timo Bracht: at Ironman 70.3 St. George in Utah he will come up against surely the strongest field that will compete at middle distance this year. With the US championships being held at the same time, Bracht may benefit from his long stay in San Diego.

Bracht has completed some good training units in recent weeks, he revealed before his appearance at Ironman 70.3 St. George. Hi mains focus, however, has been to continue his development at long distance, so it is fascinating to observe the noticeable effects of his training in these extremely quick middle distance races. “It has to all click into place in the summer,“ says the POWER HORSE Triathlon Team athlete, alluding to his big target, Challenge Roth. This demanding race, made up of a 1.9-kilometer swim, a 90-kilometer bike ride and a 21-kilometer run, will provide a real test of strength and, looking at the elite starting field, reveal where he stands in the competition.

At exciting trip

“I’m looking forward to getting out there on the weekend of 70.3. I’m going to race hard and see what I can do,” says Bracht about his upcoming appearance. For several weeks Timo Bracht has been preparing for the competitive season with his family in San Diego, so he knows the desert climate and is very well acclimatised. He describes the visit to Utah as an exciting trip: “It’s a seven-hour drive there – then I’ll be heading back to my temporary home in Carlsbad via Las Vegas.”
